School’s out for the summer. No more homework, no more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks. What it also means is that there are likely to be more kids on skateboards, scooters, bikes, and on their feet playing in the street. Please remember to drive slowly (our community speed limit is 15 MPH) and carefully and stop at all stop signs. Following these two practices may add five to ten seconds to your travels through the neighborhood. It also may save serious injury to kids, pets, and anyone else who may be walking in, or crossing, the streets. Remember, with school out for the summer, kids may be playing outdoors all day – not just afternoons after school.
Another reminder for the summer, but one that is applicable all year, is that MPHOA rules and Fairfax County ordinances require that dogs be kept on a leash at all times they are out and about in the community. Please observe our rules and the county’s ordinances.
Another informal and unscientific observation – but an observation none-the-less, is that when an owner’s dog running is loose and at a considerable distance from the owner, any resulting dog poop in the common area seems less likely to be picked up, bagged, and disposed of properly. Please take that extra step and clean up after your dog.
